  • Edit proxy files from RED in FCS3 then Up-res Later, Possible?

    Hi All,

I’d be greatful if you can help. I am editing a footage shot on RED camera. Now I have a very simple iMac that am editing on so you can imagine the nightmare of having to edit the full res clips on my poor iMac. I have heard that it is possible for me to edit the low res proxy files included from the Red Camera then later, I can up Res it by replacing the low res clips with the high res clips. I have tried this in my own way several times but no luck.

Does anyone know how I can achieve this please?

Thank you so much in advance.

i have done this a few different times, here is what I have done. Take your low res sequence, copy it and cut it into a timeline that is set to your final output codec (like 1920×1080 Pro Res or whatever). Then you can reconnect each of the clips in the new time line to it’s higher rez brother (the files with the ‘F’ extensions). Render and you should be golden.
