edit first SD then transfer to HD???
Alright, I don’t have a great deal of processing power (Non-intel dual G5) and I wanted to know if it was possible to transfer edits in SD onto a HD Final cut project?
By this, I Mean can i simply downconvert a proj. inside FCP, EDIT in SD and once happy w/ those edits simply have FCP apply all those edits/transitions, tites.. etc. onto the full HD clips,(then leave the computer and let rendering happen on the Apples time!) Granted I start another timeline w/ HD settings, then what…??
Trying to find a work around w/ a slower comp that RENDERS all day!

What footage format are you working with? yes, you can media manage to a format with a smaller data rate, then reconnect to the full HD files. But I still would like to know.

I’m working with 1080i from a prosumer Sony at the moment. Can you elaborate on the workflow or steps i’d use to accomplish the mission?

The workflow steps for RECOMPRESSING are laid out in the manual…step by step. BUT, I do have a quick workflow listed in the LAFCPUG Supermeet magazine from 2008. You’ll have to register to download it…
