Hi there! I’m editing a video for a large company that wants a montage of films featuring their products in product placements – but I know that the process of getting Blu Ray into FCP is going to be hell.

I will be getting an external Blu-Ray player, then plan to rip the DVDs, create MKV files, export in QT with Perian, then convert to Pro-Res – though I think that this could take DAYS of processing for each video.

    Any suggestions!? Thanks so much!

I haven’t been able to convert MKV files with QT and Perian…I’ve had to resort to software. I use Smart Converter. Doesn’t take that long.

The initial ripping is what takes the longest.
