I’m sure someone out there has tried this. But has anyone gathered clips from different sources and edited in 720p dvcproHD and mastered to a panasonic d5 tape? I know d5 is uncompressed but having the kona 3 now it seems to me that this would work?
If anyone has attempted this process please let me know. Or does the 720p timeline have to be edited uncompressed for it to work?

Just a question I don’t need any true hd heads getting riled up

Yes. I had footage from a varicam, HVX-200 and an output from a graphics program. ALL the footage was in the 720p24 DVCPRO HD format running at 23.98, and stored on G-Raids. I took the G-Raid and project file to a post facility with a Kona 2 and they upconverted it ON THE FLY to uncompressed 10-bit running at 59.94 and output that to D5. Worked fine.

BUT…they had to black the tape in the proper format. I remember them saying that was they tricky part. What that format was…dunno. Left it to the engineers.
