Two or three years ago, I burned a DVD of a home movie. The original miniDV tape is now gone. I want to get the footage into Vegas, do some editing, add transitions, narration–maybe some music–and then duplicate for family Christmas gifts. Apparently this isn’t as simple as I first thought–I don’t know how to get the footage into Vegas. Is this possible? Do I need separate conversion software or something? Hope you can help! THANKS!

Put the home made DVD in your DVDrom and select File, “Import DVD camcorder disc. I have also just copied the .vob files from the DVD to my hard drive, change the extention from .vob to .mpg and edited those.

    To Danny Hays:

It doesn’t appear that I thanked you LAST YEAR about this time. I truly appreciate your taking the time to respond, and I’m terribly sorry it took so long to thank you! Your answer is so wonderfully simple, but for one who didn’t know it before, it’s great to have it pointed out. Thanks again!
