I had one on backorder for 6 weeks and just got it Thursday. So far I am impressed. I had a concern about the mic pre amps and what the quality would be because no real specs are listed on Edirol’s site. So far It sounds acceptable. As I suspected it is under powered as most units of this type are (Fostex, Marantz etc.). I saw reports that the Fostex is under powered as well. I wonder if it could be powered by a seperate big battery. It seens to be well built. The phantom power is a real 48 v and not some lower voltage so it should power my TLM 103’s and AKG C 414 XSL’s OK, for how long I wonder though. I got extra rechargable batteries with that in mind. I plan on using it for Video production and recording ambience for surround sound. So far I’m impressed for the price.
