We’re getting our FCP training/demo today. It came with Echofire so we can
get a WYSIWYG image of photoshop images on the TV monitor, without having
to mess around importing and re-exporting just to check progress. So the
demo begins, we grab a frame in FCP and open it in photoshop, re-save it, drop it into the timeline, cool… While in photoshop we pull a
drop-down menu and tell echofire to send the image out to the monitor,
everything is cool, works as advertised.

Until we get back into FCP.

Now, when you play from the timeline, the monitor only shows a still frame
which updates wherever you park the playhead, but goes still when the
    timeline is playing.

The canvas, OTOH, works as expected: play the canvas, it comes out the
monitor in full motion. I have seen the demo guygo into the menus and prefs calling for “show all framesfor the timeline window, no change.

    We’ve tried reboots, restarts,
rebooting the AJA IO, etc. and nothing’s fixed the issue. Any ideas? Our
one-day training is dead in the water until we fix this.

Figured it out: Echofire wasn’t letting go of the firewire output and was fighting the IO over it. Manually turning off Echofire’s output from it’s drop down menu one done with Photoshop freed everything back up.
