Echo speed trail effect

Did ether of you get this effct to work? I have some Volleyball footage that I would like to apply this to. or something close would be good. Thanks. -

cc wide time is another that will composite frames on top of the current frame to give a motion blur like trail. but if the ball if moving fast (which it would be unless you shot slo-mo) it may practically disapear.
if you only wanted a trail off the ball, you might get the best results with a particle system, having the emitter/producer folow the motion of the ball and now velocity/speed o n the particles.
andrew kramer has a few tutorials that use an emitter to produce a trail. the ipod light streak and 3d stroke w/o 3d stroke come to mind.
