Echo displacement/ghosting effect
Hi all,
I’m looking to recreate an effect that one might see in a horror movie where the camera in first person view is focusing on an object, such as a person – then, for a split second semi-transparent ‘echos’ or ghosts of that object will diverge from it and reconverge (often accompanied by a brief but disturbing noise similar to radio static). I’m not quite sure how to put it into words (which might also explain why I’m having trouble finding tutorials on this effect), so the above explanation might be somewhat confusing, but would anyone be able to shed any light on this at all?
If I can, I’ll try and find an example on youtube and post it here.

Give the Echo effect a shot. But whether it works depends if there is movement in the original shot. If there isn’t much movement then a duplicate with displacement mapping should help to add some movement.
