I’m chewing through some 1080p footage which isn’t a problem on other systems but using adobe’s premiere and after effects seems to be eating up all my ram.

All i do is turn the program on and my gauge of memory usage climbs until it’s at 11.5 GIGS of RAM.

What on earth is going on? I just formatted my system? It shouldn’t be crashing at all.

    Hi Charlie,

Yes, they will both eat as much as they can, and the more cores your CPU has, the more RAM you’ll need. After Effects is especially RAM hungry since it uses it to show you previews. You can release the RAM by hitting Edit > Purge > All in AE.
