Is there an easy way to preview all the AE presets? Or do I have to put them on layers to see what they do?

    Thanks in advance.

You can use adobe bridge. Click the flyout on the presets tab(3 lines) and just select browse presets. Adobe bridge will open and take you right to the presets. For all the adobe presets, you can click on them and see a little sample animation.
