  • Easy Way to Change Layer Order in Real Time?

    Hi,

I’m only just starting with Adobe After Effects and hope this is the right place to ask my questions.

I’ve got a screen where I want to display 6-8 DVD covers and have each one zoom out to cover the others for a few seconds and then zoom back into place before the next one in sequence does the same. I’m using Position and Scale with Keyframes to achieve this, but the problem I have is that the order of the layers (the DVD covers) is fixed so that after the first cover has zoomed into place and then back to its reduced size the next in sequence appears UNDER it.

If I have to I guess I can do some tricks with Opacity and key frames so that the “zoomed up” DVD cover isn’t obliterated, but that looks like a bad kludge visually and I’d rather just have the ability for each DVD cover to effectively “move to back” as soon as it’s done its little zoom-up and back again animation.

Can anyone give me some pointers as to how I can achieve this, or am I just trying to be too ambitious at this level of my learning experience?

Thanks in advance for any advice that can be given.

That’s exactly what I was looking for.

    Many thanks.
