Just started using a 64-GB e-series p2 card. I transfer via firewire directly from the camera, so I generally don’t need to remove the card from the camera slot. Is it OK to just leave it there, or should it be taken out when not in use?

I cannot see why that would ever be a problem. Normally problems happen when reconnecting but I don’t think that is even a problem on these cards because they are so directed on insertion there is not much of a chance of getting it wrong.

I say keep them in if you like, hard to misplace them if they never come out of the camera.

It is safe to leave in the camera. It’s not like the old tape days. Remember to switch the protection tab to lock when offloading the cards.

I have two P2 Cards, I only take them out to offload through my Dual-adapter. After using them I put them back into the camera, and close the hatch for safe keeping. ‘Been doing this for over a year and never have had any problems.
