E-Seminar today: Fox Classics Image Spot as seen in Creative Cow Magazine
Just a heads up that I’m giving a one hour live and free E-Seminar today for Adobe. You may remember this spot from the Creative Cow magazine.I’ll be discussing the design and production of the Fox Classics spot I did a while back. Topics will include designing the spot, creative color grading, rotoscoping, faking 3D lighting, 3D camera animation techniques and general workflow tips and tricks.

Really nice spot John and lots of useful tips. Would you elaborate a tiny bit more on why you used 2 control (null) layers to animate the camera? I didn’t quite follow that. Also, was there a specific reason why you didn’t use AE’s built-in fx to separate xyz?

I used one null as a parent for the camera. The second null was used as a master control to which the expression effect (sliders) were applied. The position parameters and y rotation for the first null were linked to individual expression sliders on the master control layer. Take a look at the project file on Motionworks (do a search for camera).
