So I’m doing a spot with coins falling onto and bouncing onto a hard floor and no matter how i tweak energy loss, mass, elasticity,static/dynamic friction etc i cant get it to look right. the coin either sticks to the floor like glue or bounces like its flubber!

I realize there’s no quick and easy fix but maybe someone out there has done something similar and can point me to the right values. (how elastic should a coin be, for example)

Also, im not sure i quite under stand the Static and Dynamic friction inputs in the collision settings, any value here above 0% and i dont get no bounce, that doesn’t seem right!?

    Thanks!

It seems to me that you could do this with clothide system… I have done things like car crashes with clothide, it seems to me if you make the coins rigid cloth element you could do this without the dynamics module, you could even do it with TP…

Though I must say I used Dynamics a number of years, and I didn’t like it, it seemed to be more trouble then it was worth… but thats me…

Thanks. guess i’ll go ahead with TP instead…

I did a similar sounding project and used the vibration setting and adjusted my F-curves manually and it worked well… Although my object was tossed in on an angle so it might not have been the same type of bounce.
