    Hi all!

I’ve got some footage I’m putting up on a mock movie screen above a theatre audience. I’d like the stage and audience to illuminate to whatever degree the footage is changing its brightness and also the colors that go with it. My instinct told me to 180 the footage on the x axis and move it down over the stage and the audience, which if I lower the opacity of, it starts going in the direction I like, but I’m stuck there; I still see the actual footage on the stage and audience. If I could get just the degrees of light and color coming of the screen and not the images themselves, I’d probably be right where I need to be with the theatre filling up with the dynamic volumetric light that occurs in a real theatre. I have a feeling the answer is simple. Any suggestions?

    And THANK YOU!

Hi Tim, first thought is blur and play with blending options. ?

I tried that but it just doesn’t look good. Right now I’m using the Extract effect to remove all black and just leave white and bright colorsand then track matte the audience to that. Playing with it now but now sure. That said, blur will be part of it for sure no matter what. Thanks for the suggestion!

Can you post a still so we can get an idea of what you’re starting with? It would help me to have something to try out before posting a solution.
