I believe this issue is covered but not resolved here:

    https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/3/914775

I have a number of AE files, 40 or so different saves of the same project across multiple different revisions. I am trying to import an old version of this AE project file into my timeline in Pr, but Pr seems to get confused and continues to bring in version 40 regardless of the fact that I’m selecting 38.

Is this ringing any bells for folks, and does anyone have an explanation or fix?

Seems, from the linked thread, that PPro can only Dynamically Link to one AE Project at a time. I would import project 38 into project 40 and then link to the comp there. Just a thought.

Ah, good insight, and an annoying limitation if that’s the reason. Thanks for the suggestion, David. I’ll try that out.

Yes, the statement “Premiere Pro can only dynamic link to one project at a time” is false. The project I’m working on for instance is DLing with 7 AE projects.

But, there’s a tangential issue in the way Pr is DLing with iterative projects. Six of the DLs work fine, but the one that has been connected to multiple iterations of the same project is disrupted, and this is the problem I’m trying to solve.

Could it be drawing from the wrong cache files? I’m working on the issue now and if I find the solution I’ll follow up. I have a feeling it’s something less technical, and something to do with my method.

Actually this was an as designed feature. We are addressing it in a future version because it caused much pain and confusion. Basically AE users use Increment and Save a lot and if we want to keep the link connected we only look at the latest version. So use a different number scheme and you will be fine. Again there will be a change to address this.

    Cheers
