  • Dynamic Link to AE Question?

Posted by James Carver on July 20, 2015 at 3:53 am

I’m editing in premiere and have a sequence that I edited in AE using the dynamic link function. It worked great at first but the more work I did in AE I notice the slower playback got in PP until it eventually will not playback or render at all in PP. The files play very fast in AE however without any issues at all.

Is there a better workflow to avoid the slow playback in PP? Is there a way to just import my AE comp into PP and it play as footage? Is that even possible? Having hard time finding straight answers online elsewhere.

I will usually just render to a file out of AE, so I can import that file into my Premiere Pro bins, insert it into the edit, and move on.

It does not address the dynamic link issue, I know. But it gets me moving on.

    System:
    Dell Precision T7600 (x2)
    Win 7 64-bit
    32GB RAM
Adobe CC 2014 (as of 7/2015)
    256GB SSD system drive
4 internal media drives RAID 5
Typically cutting short form from HD MP4 and P2 MXF.
