  • Dynamic Link not Working in CC- No Clip

Posted by Tom Nahas on July 9, 2014 at 3:17 pm

I saw a few post with no real solution from a while ago, so I thought I would try and post again. I am on a PC.

When I select Replace with AE Comp, AE opens creates a sequence but never brings in the footage/clip.

I did uninstall CS6 after installing CC so I am not sure if that was a factor.
    Any help would be appreciated,

    Thanks

I’m new to CC and was having the same problem. The problem was that I had only installed Premiere Pro CC and not the older version. Both must be downloaded and installed, even though they don’t tell you that.

To download the older version: open the CC access app (or whatever they call it)>click “Apps” on the top menu>click “all app” dropdown menu which is next to “Find New Apps”>select “Audio/Video”>click “Audio/Video” dropdown menu>select “Previous Versions”>find and install Premiere Pro.

This worked for me. Good luck.

Seriously? Then WHY do they give you the ability to uninstall those older apps without warning you? Seems odd.

    Kind regards,

I didn’t uninstall anything. I was doing all of this with a newly purchased computer, so everything was fresh. I simply thought that installing Premiere Pro CC would give me Premiere Pro CC… evidently not. There is that other step I mentioned that must be taken, even though there is no warning.

It works great on my other PCs, and even used to work in my laptop. It just stopped working after installing CC. It is a great feature when it works!

    Wait, what? I’m confused.
Are you saying I have to leave CS6 installed for dynamic link between the two to work correctly on CC? Or do I have to download something else?

    Dell T76000 Dual 8-core 2.4 GHz
    NVIDIA Quadro 2000
    NVIDIA Tesla c2075
    Adobe Premiere Pro CS6
    After Effects CS6
    Cinema 4d r12

    Hi Todd,
You have to have the same version of Premiere Pro CC 2014 and After Effects CC 2014 for dynamic link to work between those projects.

The same goes with Premiere Pro CC and After Effects CC.

If you updated a project from CC to CC2014, that’s when people begin to have problems. If you do so, dynamic link may not work.

As I understand it, you need to relink comps and footage in both applications for it to be functioning correctly again.

You do not need to have any CS6 applications installed for CC or CC 2014 applications to function.

If this is a problem with you or others, I can investigate further.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Hi Don,
[Don Berman] “I simply thought that installing Premiere Pro CC would give me Premiere Pro CC… evidently not. There is that other step I mentioned that must be taken, even though there is no warning.”

That seems rather odd because I just did a dynamic link from Premiere Pro CC 2014 to AE CC 2014 without Premiere Pro CC or AE CC installed. This should not be happening.

Can you file a bug report? https://adobe.ly/ReportBug

    Thanks,
    Kevin

I have this problem with CC, CC2014 and the most recent CC2014 update. Using premiere, linked comps to AE become unlinked.
This only happens when I use an NVIDIA graphics card (CUDA). When I put in an ATI card (OPEN CL), it works fine.
All CUDA driver updated to latest versions.
I am on a Mac Pro Gen 5,1.
    NVIDIA GTX 660 Signature 2
    Apple ATI 5770
It seems to be an CUDA problem.

The NIVDIA card is about 30% faster than my ATI card so I would like to find a fix for this.

I just started using CC 2014.

I am getting the “Failed to Connect to Adobe After Effects Dynamic Link” error when I try to drag a comp into my premiere project. Both programs are CC 2014.
To be exact, 2014.1 (P) and 2014.0 (AE).

    Please help! :-\

    TRUE.
Had this problem since I started using a newer version of AE.
I just updated both app. Now the link is fixed automatically.
