DVX100 FW out to KiPro
Posted by Tom Case on April 14, 2011 at 8:15 pmAnyone tried DVX100 firewire out to AJA KiPro? Is the FW out clamped? Will i get better than DV 25megabit bit rate on recording to SD ProRes via KiPro?

April 14, 2011 at 8:53 pmYou can not connect the DVX to the KiPro via firewire. There isn’t even an analog input.
You would need an analog (composite) to HDMI or analog (composite) to SDI adapter.

April 14, 2011 at 9:03 pmSo the firewire 400 & 800 connectors on the kipro don’t function as input/output I guess?

April 15, 2011 at 3:45 pmCorrect those are for transfer to your computer as data, not Firewire video. KiPro is not really applicable to a camera like the DVX100 to be honest. It’s meant more for HD cameras with more aggressive compression codecs. At 25 mbit for just standard definition, DV is a lot closer to ‘uncompressed’ than most HD codecs in use today all things being relative.
