DVX-100 4:3 blowup to HD-CAM 16:9 ?
Beyond the anamorphic adaptor, what are other options for going from the DVX’s native 4:3 to HD-CAM 16:9 for blowup and digital projection for festival circuit? We’re looking for something that’s going to look GOOD.

The in-camera 16:9 squeeze of the DVX100A and B is 30% lower quality approx than the optical adaptor. That’s about it. Anything else is software scaling from 4:3 to 16:9 and also a massive scaling up to 1080i for the HDCAM frame size. I’d recommend a nice hardware upconvert or the Algolith plugin:

Thank you. I thought that was the case… Have you seen what a conversion like this looks like projected on a big screen?
If the quality isn’t good then perhaps this project will just live in the realm of 4:3.Thank you,

Depends on so many factors- quality of the original footage, how it’s corrected, how it’s upconverted, how it’s projected, etc. If you can project in the original format on a good projector that’s the best way to go.
