    DVPRO firewire out of Varicam 720p footage

    I’m experimenting with taking the firewire out of the 1200 straight into a PC and encoding 720p footage directly with Windows Media 9 encoder. I edited Varicam footage in FCP and recorded it back to the 1200 for my master and now I’d like to get a WM9 encode off that master.
    While the menus in the 1200 seem to suggest that I can get a DV, DVCPRO and DVCAM output (menus 020, 022, 023) it doesnt work. All I get is colored digital snow.

    Is this possible to do?

    I can always do a Flip4Mac conversion but it takes an incredible amount of time to encode and this method should be much faster.
