  • DVI Extender and 4:4:4 RGB?

    Hi,

I’m trying to get a 444-RGB source (1080/5994i) into my Decklink 3D Pro Extreme. I have lots of YUV 4:2:2 sources, an HDLink Pro 3D, and a DVI Extender. I’m trying to ‘create’ a 444-RGB source signal.

According to the spec, the DVI Extender does 3Gbit output. So, my question is, is that limited to 1080/5994-60p (YUV 4:2:2 10-bit), or can it do RGB 4:4:4 in 29.97p or 59.94i? I was hoping just to attach a proper computer output via DVI to the DVI Extender, and get an RGB 4:4:4 signal out (59.94i or 29.97p)

I see no mention of RGB or 4:4:4 in the DVI manual.

I also am using the BlackMagic SDK for my camera software (SI-2K).

I also have a Cinedeck with a Decklink built in, and could probably just play a file in MediaExpress there in an RGB 4:4:4 output mode, and that would provide a valid SDI RGB bitstream. But I was hoping to not have to use a second computer for this task.

    Thanks!

    I also meant 10-bit, ‘r210’ format…

As far as I know the extender does not do RGB. We have tried this several times with our Barco Screenpro and get nothing. We ended up getting the BM HDMI to sdi converter and used a dvi to HDMI cable. I don’t know if it will handle 4:4:4 but it definitely does rgb.
