https://dvgarage.com/prod/prod.php?prod=dvmatteb&sub=features plug-in? We’re looking for a keyer that’s very powerful, and doesn’t require us to buy some piece of peecee hardware like Ultra 2.

May 16, 2006 at 7:10 pmThat’s as good as it gets for Motion. Otherwise I’d suggest Ultimatte for FCP or Keylight which comes with AfterEffects or Shake. If you’re doing a lot of greenscreen you’ll have a better time with one of those. Motion is very capable as an occasional green screen compositor, but it can’t fully compete with the control you have in a dedicated app.

May 16, 2006 at 7:22 pmthe dvMatte plug-in for After Effects is also very good, better than Keylight for DV footage in my experiments.

May 16, 2006 at 8:18 pmThe dvMatte plug-in is optimized for DV color (4:1:1) and handles the edges much easier than others IF YOU’RE USING DV.

May 16, 2006 at 11:03 pmOr you could run out and buy one of those new fangled Intel-Macs, and then get Ultra 2. That way you can run that Windows program and FCP on the same computer. Of course, you’d have to wait for the new Power Macs to come out first….

May 17, 2006 at 1:52 amI just purchased dv matte blast for motion and it is unbelieably good and easy to use. I’m using it on HDV footage too!
Try the demo on thier site, that will tell you if it will work for your needs.

June 13, 2006 at 12:01 amYou could try this little app for $60
It does Vector Keying as a QuickTime plugin.
