There has got to be some way to make a Mask (matte) on a layer then add a DVE move to it so that only the masked layer moves and not all of the layers underneath.

Using Adrenaline 2.4 w/ Boris Continuum Complete and Sapphire V2.

First I tried the standard Animatte plus 3D Warp — of course no luck.
Then I tried Animatte plus Boris DVE but for some reason the Boris still treats the Animatte as whole frame (ie it manipulates all underlying frames).

The solution would seem to be some sort of Boris Matte plus a Boris DVE. Does anyone know of a solution for this problem? PS I need to use some sort of matte cutout to precisely pick the area I need to key out (so luma key or chroma key would not work.

add the dve move, then step in to the layer to add the animatte, then adjust the dve move again to suit??

Not assuming you have After Effects, but if you do, this is a prime candidate for completing there. Import a reference movie and cut away. I’m hardly an expert, but I’ve found this kind of work terribly frustrating with Avid’s FX workflow. Even if it is possible, Animatte’s shape tools are clumsy and imprecise (my opinion).

Not in front of a system right now, but trying to work it out in my head…

What happens if you nest the mask layer (I know…its just one layer…humor me) then apply a 3D warp to the nest?
