  DVD’s won’t work

  I constantly have problems creating useable DVD’s. No matter which software I use. I’ve got Encore, DVD architect, and others but all I get are defective DVD’s. I’ve got an AMD Sempron 2800+ with 2Gb memory and nearly a terrabyte of storage. Either the DVD won’t load at all or it has dropouts on some machines as it plays. This occurs with +R or -R media 8x or 16x. It seems to me with the current level of technology, this shouldn’t be happening. What is wrong? What can I do?
