DVDs to HDD

I hope one of you geniuses might know if there is a good way to transfer a large number of DVDs to Hard Drives. One at a time is not the greatest, so I am wondering if it is possible to build a box of SATA DVD Drives with one connector to a mac? Ideally, I would have 6-8 drives in a tower plugged into my mac and transfer 8 at a time instead. I could also use USB drives, but those are slower. Any other ideas?

These are photo files and there are no copyright protection issues or anything like that. Just need to copy folders from DVD to HDD
