We are currently working with some large file concert footage that when rendered totals 7.8 Gb. Yet DVDA “red lines” us and says the file is too big for an 8.5 Dual Layer DVD. I am assuming the problem is the file size of DVDA’s own info/index etc. puts us over the limit
Is the DVDA info/index data a finite size or does it change with each video program. How much space do we have to allow for DVDA’s own information?

If you have audio in the MPEG2 file and are also including separate AC3 files, it could be doubling up your audio. In the instances where i KNOW it’s small enough, I go ahead and prepare ignoring the warnings and the see what the final size is. Remember also that the 8.5Gig not in “computer sizes” (i.e. a 4.7 Gig DVD really holds closer to 4.3 Gig so it may be very possible that 7.8 Gig is too large – especially after adding in the menus)
