Hi folks, I have a question concerning DVD creation on DVDA. I thought I should be able to burn files onto dvd media that is 4.7gb, or less since my file is only 4.61 after creating Mpeg2 plus menu. This is my first time creating a dvd on DVDA, although, I’ve had VegasDVD for several years. Any suggestions on this, should I go back and rerender a shorter Mpeg file?

Because a “4.7Gig” dvd is really 4.37Gig in size?

It’s a difference between base 10 (which humans use) and base 2 (which computers use). It’s a little misleading.

It’s also used as an exaggeration by manufacturers to make their hard drives/discs sound bigger than they are!! e.g. “120 Gb Drive” is really 112.

The disk manufacturers will have to start explaining themselves better because when people start installing 500Gb drives and only seeing a little over 400Gb after formatting, they are going to hear from them. Maybe they should start putting the approximate *formatted* drive size on the box?
