Sorry if this us a stupid question. I have noticed that when I open dvda and bring in the footage it’s luke working in mud – slow, slugish. If I hit a point on the time line the preview take a few seconds to catch up. Preview is jumpy. Is this because dvda is loading the footage – if so is there a way of seeing progress. Thanks Martin.

    Hi Theo,

The footage is edited in 1080i and rendered out of vegas 9 as standard DV… ie mpeg 2 Video: 25 fps, 720×576 Upper field first, YUV, 6 Mbps
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.457…

    Regards

A standard DVD PAL (720 x 576 px) is lower field first and RGB.

    Hi Theo,

Thank you for your response – and having looked at the standard template for PAL dv it is lower first – the footage is upper first as captured, so i assumed it would be better to stick to that field order. Sorry, but i don’t understand the RGB?
Are you saying that DVDA is having to re render to lower field first ? and therefor i should render from vegas lower field first.

    Regards & thanks

Yes, that’s what I was thinking of.
