DVDA render bit-rates
I have a 3 minute project going to DVDA. When I render out, will I get any better quality by bumping UP the bit rates? Or by checking the “two pass” box? Any other tweaks I haven’t mentioned? If so, can you refer me to a good bit-rate calculator?

I’d use VBR at 8,000,000 / 8,000,000 / 4,800,000 and AC-3 audio.
Spot will probably say to bump the 8 to 9 but this is ony of you’re using good brand-name media like Taiyo-Yuden or Verbatim.
Since it’s so short, try a 2-pass to see if you can notice a difference.I use this bitrate calculator.

Nope…IMO, your advice is “spot-on.” We don’t ever encode faster than 8.7Mbps, because even on high-grade media, this runs an increased risk of incompatibilities with the Eclipse master. Our *average* DVD is encoded no higher than 7.5Mbps, whether it’s training DVD or for small format broadcast.
