This is very limiting part of the program. I would like to go forward or backwards throughout the 4 parts… Is there a way?

Yes, but not the way you are doing it. What you need to do is render all 4 files as one file. Then place chapter markers at the beginning of each lesson. This will allow you to go backwards and forwards through the chapters.

If you want each lesson to return to the menu once played, that can be done with simply copying buttons and adjusting end markers.

What I was hoping is trying to avoid re-editing, creating 1 file with all the parts. I have 9 DVDs…

If you re-render in the same format as it’s current state, smart render should make a a pretty painless and non-time consuming effort…good luck!

You can group and navigate anyway you want once you have the media as one long file. That’s the key to being able to navigate backward through chapters.

As Scott pointed out, no need to re-edit anything. In fact, I would buy a little product called Womble and it will allow you to simply join all of the already rendered MPG files into one. I have use Womble to reassemble MPG files into one long file for DVD’s before and it works beautifully.

If you can describe the exact navigation you need in detail, I can help you figure out how to achieve it in DVD Architect.

Scott, I did them as mpg files and ac3 files. I’m not sure if the compression setting was different for each part – it should be the same. Would that effect it or do I just need to render it as mpg?

Thanks John, Actually my nagivation is somewhat complex.

It starts with a short intor video (30 seconds) then goes to the menu. From the menu for a lession it goes to part 1 then graphic then part 2 then graphic then part 3 then graphic then part 4 and back to menu.

From the menu you can select one of the three bonus. Plays each section then back to menu.

I will look at that particular program. Still seems simplist might just be to go ahead and re-render it.

I just wanted to make sure there was something I was missing in DVDA and it appears there is not. Thanks again! James

Aren’t the “graphics” also mpeg files though? Or are these some sort of menu graphics that aren’t actually video elements? Sounds like it’d be easier to just rerender the whole thing as one big mpeg with chapter stops. Grab a drink and load up Solitaire!

That was going to be my question as well. If the graphic can be part of the MPG file, then then navigation seems doable.
