  • DVDA – “dancing” text on DVD menu.

I render my DVDA project with some DVDA text on the menu – rendering with a bitrate of 6.5 mbps. The text on the rendered DVD jumps, jigs and dances – whether I render with higher or lower bitrate. Is there some secret to avoiding this and getting clear crisp text on the menu? TIA

    What font did you use?
    What size was it?
    What colour was it?
Did you use a border or drop shadow on it?

    white font
saginaw, lucida sans unicode and estragello odessa – but all fonts same issue
    size auto – but about 18 – 20 points
    no border, yes shadow

Saginaw looks a bit on the thin side but should be OK.
The one thing that comes to mind is to make sure that the white level is no higher than 235.
The default is 255 and this is too high and can cause issues like your having.
Drop the level down and see if it helps.

BTW, the Cow article titled Great Titles with the DV Codec is an excellent primer on text issues to be aware of.
