I’m wondering if I can load both media files and data files such as PDF’s onto a mastered DVD. I’m trying to produce a menu based DVD that includes a musical slideshow as well as PDF files that represent what presenters at a sales conference delivered.

I’d like for users of the DVD to use the menu to navigate from pictures taken at the conference (slideshow created in Vegas 6)to the PDF’s where they can launch, open and view the PDF’s.

It’s okay if this is only computer DVD compatible VS your standard home DVD player, but is it even possible?

    Thanks in advance

    I’ve done this numerous times.
Create a new folder called Extras and put anything you want into it (PDFs, images, Powerpoint presentations, etc.).
After I’ve prepared my DVD files in DVDA, I add this Extras folder to the master folder that contains the AUDIO_TS & VIDEO_TS folders. I then use RecordNow to burn it all as a data DVD.
Home DVD players ignore the ectra folder while computer users simply browse to it.

Mike – one last question…..Can I link to this “Extras” folder and link back to the main movie? or can you only “browse” to the extra folder?

In newer versions of DVD Architect, you just go to File – Properties and then tell it where the “extras” folder is located. It’ll add them for you then.

Sorry Marlen but you can’t. Because the Extras folder is exactly that (an extra), it can’t be navigated to as a menu item.

Mike (or anyone else who may know)

Is there any other program I can use besides RecordNow? I’m not a big fan of ROxio software (even though it is a free download. I have Nero Express 6, but can’t seem to burn the file correctly (it burns it as data where I can see the vob files as well as the “Extras”Folder, but non of the vob’s launch the entire DVD – only the portion that the vob relates to.

    Any help is much appreciated…

Nero should work fine. You have to burn the FOLDERS: Video_TS and Audio_TS and wherever your “extras” are.

The VOB files will be inside the Video_TS folder.

Thanks Edward – I’ll give that a try.

One question though….am I still burning these folder in the “Data DVD” mode?

When I tried that before I got a “Multi Session” error that told me the DVD would not be playable? Is there some setting in Nero I need to adjust?

    Thanks for the help…
