When I build a dvd in Encore 2.0,using a relatively new HP dvd writer 740b, I cannot change the “write speed” for the disc. It displays “auto” only and will not allow me to choose x16, X8, X4, etc. Encore does burn my dvd, and it plays, but I am perplexed to why I cannot change the write speed. Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

I would uninstall any HP software that would be controlling that feature. Or maybe it’s just a driver compatibility issue.

Thanks Vince. I will try your suggestion. In the meantime, I did notice something strange. When I burn a dvd with 1 timeline, that is one menu chapter, Encore’s allows me to pick dvd “write speed”. When I have more than one timeline, more chapters in the menu, it resorts to “auto write speed” only. Any ideas other than your previous suggestions? Thank you
