I’m burning DVDs from an internal Sony DVD Burner (RW DW-D150A) and am using Toast Titanium 8 to burn the Build files from DVD Studio Pro. I’m using a Mac Pro, and Toast has a verification function. Although all the discs seem to burn fine, and play fine on an external DVD player, these discs reveal a verification problem (Toast identifies an “unreadable” sector).
Verification was fine yesterday, I burned 30 discs from the same batch of recordable discs, and today I’ve gotten ten in a row which will not verify.
I suspect it may be the play back capacity of the internal DVD player. Is there a way to check this hardware? Since it is internal, inside a Mac Pro, I don’t want to go around using screw drivers on the thing. Is there an application in my OS (10.4.11) that would do a hardware check or repair if needed?
    Thanks,
    Joe
