DVD upscaling comparison

Is there any difference between Upscaled material from dvd(via Compressor) and upscaled dvd during playback on set top box?

I’ve meant comparison between software and hardware upscaling…
I’m asking about cause our client asked for this when we proposed upscaling his old movie titles for Bluray. He asked of need producing Bluray if the “same thing” could do a settop box like PS3 with DVD in realtime…. -

May 21, 2010 at 10:10 pmUnless you’ve got a nice Teranex hardware upconverter sitting on the table I’d suggest just making a DVD in standard definition. Most Blu-ray players do a far better job upscaling SD content than you could do with most software upconverters.
