  • DVD Studio Pro “Play” question…

This is probably a really basic question, but what the hell I just can’t figure it out…

My DVD manu is complete, everything works OK. When I play the DVD in Apple’s DVD Player I can play each asset by hitting the ENTER button to activate the asset. HOWEVER, when you hit PLAY it says “NOT PERMITTED” … This confuses some when they play the DVD as they think it’s broken.

How can I insure that the PLAY button works?

The Play button has no function within a DVD menu regardless of the authoring software used. If anything, the play button would cause the menu’s VOBU to play, which already plays automatically when you navigate to it. You can see what I’m trying to explain by looking at a motion menu on a DVD. Unless the UOPS are locked out, if you press play or pause, the menu itself responds to those buttons, not the menu entries. A still menu works the same way, as it is actually an object with a 12 frame duration and an infinte still.
