DVD Studio Pro/ HD burn
Posted by Joe Colombatto on November 26, 2007 at 11:18 pmLooking to export an HD project from DVD Studio Pro in HD formate.
Do I need a special burner, do I need special HD discs, or will my Mac Pro
internal DVD burner and standard DVD-R discs do the job?
Thanks,

November 27, 2007 at 7:12 amIf it’s a short project (up to about 20 minutes), a standard burner and DVD-R will do the job, this is called a mini HD-DVD and most players out there can take it.
HD-DVD burners are very rare up to now, I’ve only seen one in an expensive Toshiba laptop.

Uli

As of right now, Toshiba appears to be the only manufacturer of HD-DVD burners and they are Windows only. We researched them recently for a client.
Blu-ray on the other hand is readily available for both Mac desktops and laptops. We have already authored two Blu-ray discs and will be doing quite a few more in 2008.

November 30, 2007 at 3:32 pmI was wondering what brand of Blu Ray burner do you use in your Mac?
We have the latest and greatest FCPro systems being built now and there is some confusion as to which brand Blu Ray burner can be installed.
They have ordered Panasonics but they are telling us Apple has not approved this brand yet.
Also I would be curious which authoring software was used.
We have the Adobe CS3 suite on order and it’s my understanding I will be able to author a Blu ray disc with Encore.
Thanks

We run the FastMac burner in my Mac Pro.

I also just purchased a two unit Panasonic BluRay replicator. haven’t tried it out yet, but it’s a stand alone unit that burns two discs at a time.

When you get the stand alone Panasonic up and running it will be interesting to hear the results.
One would think if the Panasonics didn’t work then a software update would fix it. I would take it that since the thread was DVD Studio Pro, then that was the software you were using.
