[Matt Goldschmidt] “what is the BEST encode settings?”

I’m mot trying to be cagey, but the best encoding settings vary from project to project.

[Matt Goldschmidt] “Field order – ?????”

Depends on your source material. DV is lower field 1st.

[Matt Goldschmidt] “Bit Rate – ???”

Depends on how much material (total # of minutes, including extras) is going on how big a disk.

[Matt Goldschmidt] “Max Bit Rate – ???”

No higher than 7 for disks being burned on a desktop. That assumes that you’re compressing your audio with aPack.
