Ok, I know this is probably due to certain desktop DVD players not playing well with recorded DVDs, but I thought I’d put this out there…

I own a production company that frequently does live dance recitals. I sell hundreds of DVDs, which I duplicate at home on my DVD duplicator. I create and copy everything DVD-R.

Every year I will get 5% of clients who will call me and tell me their DVD is “skipping”. I always tell them it is probably because their DVD player can’t read DVD-R media and offer them a new one if it doesn’t work on another player.

My question is this: HOW DO WE GET A DVD THAT WILL PLAY IN ALL PLAYERS?! Is there any thoughts about how to increase the successful play percentage?

    Thanks,
    Justin.

    Replicate instead of duplicate.

In order to replicate, I need to create a glass master, and then have it commercially reproduced, correct? Or am I missing something here?

Try making an ISO file and then burning at a slow burn speed. The media You use is very important so use the good and expensive stuff. I have the same problem and it is helped buy this. Best media at slow burn rate seems to be only thing I can see helps.

Agreed. I’ve found that the workflow that produces the most compatibility with the most players is exactly what you said. My workflow is to use Encore to create an ISO file of the DVD and then burn DVDs using ImgBurn 1.3 (www.imgburn.com) and of course using high-quality media @ 4x maximum speed.

If you want to make a burned dvd that plays in all players ,,,you must use
the Pioneer dvr 201 recorder and use 3.95 media made for authoring .
I have never had even one of these discs not play in any dvd player ,,,,
On the Downside these Blank 3.95 discs are alot more money ( around 15 per disc ) and the recorder is a scssi recorder and was selling for around 4500 last I looked … I got mine when it first came out and paid 5400 for it …
for what I do I am not sure if I even need it anymore !
