    Hi Everyone,
I have a few questions about DVD settings that I hope you can assist me with.

I have a project in Premiere Pro CS5, shot in 720p(59.97, 960×720) and it looks real nice in the time line. Used dynamic link to send it to Encore and transcoded there. The challenge is I can’t find the right settings to elminate a slight blur when the camera pans slowly left or right. Doesn’t do that in the timeline in Premiere Pro. I understand you lose quality going from 720p to SD, that just seemed too much.

    Used MPEG 2-DVD settings
    Quality 5
    Frame Rate 29.97, Drop Frame
    FO- Progressive
    Widescreen 16×9
    VBR 2 pass
    Min Bitrate 4
    Target bitrate 7
    Max Bitrate 8

Are these settings ok or is there another setting I should be using? Or should I not use dynamic link and just export the video from Premiere Pro and import that file into Encore?

    Thanks for your help!

    Two things I might try:

    1) Use CBR 7.0, I don’t see a benefit to VBR unless doing long-form video where you need to really manage bits

    2) Not sure if you’ll see this in Encore, but when exporting from Premiere using AME, check the box for “Maximum Render Quality”, this is supposed to help any time you are downscaling, improves sharpness.

    Settings otherwise look fine

Thanks Jeff! I’ll give that a try and let you know how it works.
