DVD problem
i cut a small project in final cut pro 6, that i shot with the panasonic p2 at 480i/24p. i thought i set the capture and sequence presets to the suggested dv50 ntsc. everything looked great when watching it on a computer monitor. then i made a dvd through export > quicktime movie > iDVD & DVD Studio Pro, and watched on a regular tv, and any shots with movement look strobe-like, flickery-like, etc. images with no movement look normal.
should i go back and reset FCP capture and sequence presets and just capture and edit over again? luckily it’s only 15 short shots.

Sounds like a field dominance mixup. If FCP applied a shift field filter to the clips automatically try turning it off. if there isn’t one there try adding it. Since you don’t have an external video monitor you’ll have to re export to test it.
Make sure whatever you used to export the dvd file have field dominance set to automatic too. -
Are you viewing it on a Flat Screen TV?
Because if you are, it’s highly likely that the “strobe-like” effect you see when there’s motion is caused by the Flatscreen and not your actual footage. Try watching your footage on an old school non-flat screen TV and see if the strobe-like effect is gone.

That’s the first issue. FCP expects you to be viewing your work on an external video monitor. What you are describing is interlacing issues and you would see this on an external video display that can show interlacing.
If you shot in true progressive, then you should be editing and finishing in progressive, though I’m not sure how that will look on the final DVD.
