  • DVD output from 24fps HD video using Cineform?

    Hello again,
I am continuing my work on developing a flow to get
    quality DVDs from an HVX200.

    * Presently I am capturing 720PN24 and using HDLink to
convert the files to a Cineform format. Project is a
    1280x720p PAR=1.0 Cineform project setup.

    * I edit using this project and then output using Adobe
Media Encoder. Setting are 23.976fps, progressive video,
    PAR=1.2(widescreen). Quality=3. Output resolution=720×480.

Problem is that when I view the DVD video on a regular
TV(my test setup) I see horrible edges during movements.
For example, if an actor is walking across the screen in
a Full shot, the odd/even scan lines are not aligned
correctly. It looks alot like I have mis-aligned fields,
but the video is rendered progressive.

So, am I doing something wrong? Is the above method the
recommended flow for creating high quality DVDs from
progressive video? I have checked the Cineform FAQ, but
the recommendation is to create an intermediate
cineformHD file then compress to MPEG. This introduces
one more compression cycle that I’d like to avoid.

    Really all suggestions are welcome.

    Thanks

    MBW
