DVD from Aaton Cantar not recognized !
Hello,
A friend of mine working with an Aaton Cantar for 5 days with a team.
Each day he made the DVD and it was captured in Avid. Every things was ok but the DVD from the 4e day !Only this one didn’t want to be recognize by Avid.
Any idea ?
(He said to me that he do the sound mix during the record but on Avid the other guy can have all of the differents originals tracks)

Is it not recgonized by the operating syste, or not recognized by Avid?

hum, I’m not sure and I don’t know enougth
… When the DVD and Avid are together, nothing happened…I’ll try to join him but I can’t now!

If you close the Avid application, and insert the DVD into your computer, does the DVD show up on the computer? Can you access it? If not, and the previous DVD’s were read, the DVD is likely faulty. Ask them to supply another copy (they should have the originals on an internal hard drive). If the DVD shows up on the desktop, but the Avid cannot “see” the files, try copying the files to a local hard drive first, then try to import them from there. If this fails as well, double check to see if the files can be plaed back by a mediaplayer like QuickTime Player. If that fails, the files are likely corrupt.
All of this is often connected to the way that they back up their recordings to disk. Their are multiple ways, and occasionally, a DVD burn might fail.
And yes, he likely supplied you with both a (2-track) mix he made, as well as a bunch of ISO tracks (unmixed separate recording of each microphone). It depends on your preferred workflow how you need to go about that.

I didn’t succeed to really contact the friend, only phone by car with bad reception and police around (it’s forbiden in France to have phone call while you drive)
The team have decided to return the hard drive to Aaton. I suppose they rent another for today.
He had made plenty off DVD and always the same occurs.
I would insist so that they try to copy the file to a local hard drive and try with QuickTime Player (AIFF). Maybe they didn’t thought to do that!)

The problem came from one file into the Aaton Cantar. So nothing to see with Avid ^^
After a lot of tries, they saw the burn stopped, always on one file.
So they deleted it into the Cantar and saved all the other on the DVD.If that may be help _ Thanks a lot
