I have just produced a video for a client who wants it on DVD. He doesn’t have a blu-ray player. I exported the files as a MPEG-DVD and it works all fine. However he is moaning because he says the compression has really reduced the quality. I have had a look at my end and it looks fine to be. I think he is referring to the fact its not HD! But then DVD plays SD if I am right?

Secondly he wants a USB copy for the TV, so what is best to export this as?

Yes, the DVD standard is SD. Make sure you’re exporting as widescreen so the DVD player can fill the monitor with the 16:9 picture. You want to squeeze every bit that you can out of the DVD standard. It’s true that it won’t be as sharp as true HD, but I don’t find it looks too bad.

That is what I thought but trying to explain this to him is hard!
