dvd encoding
Hello all,
I was wondering what the best encoding specs are. I have compressor and episode engine at my disposal. When I make a dvd now it is fine for client approval but no where close to an acceptable format.

Seriously, you need to provide us with much more information.
Source format, length of source, type of source content, authoring to single or dual layer disc? etc etc.
Lastly, what do you consider an ‘acceptable format’?

Any piece of video. say a 30 second spot. single layer disc. 8 bit uncompressed 4:2:2. the standard presets from compressor and episode make the video milky and video ripping occurs alot. most of our videos will come from hd cam or digital beta. so quality of source isnt ever a problem.

Something very odd going on there, although not perfect, I’ve never had an MPEG-2/DVD preset in either compressor or Episode cause a ‘milky’ or ‘ripped’ picture.
What’s your workflow from your NLE to the encoder?
