I am having 3-5 percent of my dvds returned with compatibility issues.

My burning rate is 100 percent when I test the DVDs on my Sony DVD player. The problem only comes when I send my DVDs out into the world.

I use Verbatim 8x media, ink jet printable, I render the Mpeg 2 and ac3 in Vegas and then simply do a few menus and scene selections in DVD Architect 2.0b

    I burn with a Pioneer A07 4x burner (-R and +R) but I only use DVD-R media.

Any thoughts on this matter are greatly appreciated.

You are probably not far from the average compatability percentage. It’s just a fact of life with burned DVDs.

Try different brand. I had lots of returns when I used Verbatim x8 although the burner was A105. The disks were fine if burned in A108.

I switched to Taito Yuden x8. Not returns yet but time will tell.

Like you I generally use DVD-R, but when occasionally someone can’t play one, I replace it with a DVD+R.

    This almost always works ok.

I’ll try the +R solution… see how that goes… thanks to all.

Also with some burners (like Sony) you can only use the blank media recommended by the manufacturer. I had TY blank media I used and many times got an equal amount of coasters to good ones. Sony support had me do some tests but said the test wouldn’t work unless I used the media recommended.

Now on my new computer I got the HP lightScribe and have been able to use any of the media I have here with no problems.

So first, check your manufacture’s recommended media and try that.
