    Hello,

I am trying to export my project to DVD throught the ‘export to dvd’ function in PP2 but the burn button is greyed out? I tried re-starting incase it did not recognise my burner but no luck..

Could someone shed some light on this little issue i have?

I really gotta burn my uni project!

    Thank you

ive got this problem again, i dont think i ever found a remedy before. Im using premiere pro 7.0 (v1.0 ? ) and have two projects that run just over 2.5hrs. Ive rendered one of them and having problems with the other, i keep getting a fatal error. Ive got loads of disc space….

Anyway, the on that is rendered, i go to export to DVD and like peter, the record button is greyed out. Isnt premiere suppose to reduce the quality to fit a regular DVD-5 ? Ill try it with a dual layer disc tomorrow. I read on adpbe support that premiere elements can only export 2hrs to a single layer and 4hrs to a dual layer.

It could be a driver not being recognized, update your DVD burner to the latest firmware / driver.

Does the record to ISO or folder function work ?

If so, then just use the folder option, and drag the finalized folder to the DVD.

im using premiere pro 7.0, i dont think there is a export to iso option in there. If there was (and it worked) it would be perfect.

Ive just downloaded the tryout for prem pro 2.0 and that has iso export but again it dosent work but i dont think the tryout lets you anyway.

my dvd writers are both sony aw-g170a, quite a new drive so im not sure if it would be that. When i loaded the project into pp2.0 it did say there wasnt enough space on the disc amd pn my HD the space exceeded 4.7gb. Im not sure what to make as its a try out but it kinda points towards getting a dual layer disc.

Just wish i had one on me now!

Haa, well your issue then has to do with the preset you used. Try lowering the setting to 4MB CBR, or use a custom setting, and keep lowering the data rate until it allows you to burn.

I had the same problem and the reason was because I had another dvd burning software “Roxio” installed and that would take over the DVD burner. I solved it by doing a search on the Adobe forums under “can’t burn a dvd” and the answer came up. It has something to do with upper and lower filters in the system registry or something like that. I wish I had the link for you but I can not find it right now.

That may be it too, but that usually especially happens when you actually remove the application. For example the CD icon would disappear all together.

Here’s a link for the registry fix:

I just reduced everythng to the minimum quality settings and it will let me burn! 🙂 So im off to get some dual layer discs.

Thanks guys. Think i got confused as i thought that premiere would automatically adjust the bitrate/quality ro my comp.

Premiere will roughly calculate the space requirements based on the preset you chose, and as you saw tell you if you can burn or not.

You can either use a bit rate calculator: https://www.customflix.com/bitbudget

or you can take a look at applications like Adobe Encore that will allow you to select an automatic setting for encoding.

    Cheers,

Thanks for the help vince. Ive finally got the 2nd act on to DVD, that leaves the 1st. Ive been encountering an error message in the first that prevents me saving the project beyond a certain point of rendering (shuts PP down). I had the same problem in the 2nd act but it managed to render to a point where i could sacrifice the remaining section of the timeline.

Any ideas why the project would just refuse to render any further? Ive got an intel core duo2 cpu(2.40mhz x 2), 2gb ram, 400gb SATA2 HD…
