I realize this is not totally related to vegas per se but please bare with me, I’m desperate. I’m on a quest for DVD burning software for data (ie video files etc). Now, there are a couple “common sense” stipulations that I thought all software would have but apparently not – what are these programmers thinking?…Since yesterday I have tried about 6 programs and they are all terrible !!!

Anyway, I was using deepburner and it has pretty much everything going for it except it will not burn at 8x with either my liteon or plextor drives. Nero, on the other hand will, but it totally bloated and lacks a data count (unbelievable)…

So can anyone recommend to me some software which a) will burn at the proper speed (8x-yes i have the media, dma enabled et al)
    b) has a friggin data count – when you add a file, it’s supposed to tell you how much is left on the disc !!!! amount used, amount remaining c)has a burning timer – time elapsed, time remaining once the burn is underway d) has a full directory tree, drag and drop windows explorer like interface which supports all the common shortcut keys ie ctrl a (i just tried a burning program that was actually missing on of the directories on a drive root and showed only one drive at a time) e)is not bloated and full of 30 other utilities (ie Nero) which I don’t need

I’m in here because I feel I can get a solid recommendation, previous posts on the web have gone unanswered and I have wasted tons of time installing and uninstalling
    thanks

If it’s about burning, Nero is an ultimate, all in one
    solution.

    I’m using 6.0.0.16 – there’s also a 7.x version out there,
but I’m completely satisfied with my 6… version.

It not just writes DVD video, but all DVD formats, handles
almost all burner correctly (you can have multiple burner, and you can write to them simultaneously), and it’s almost bug free.
I say “almost” because every program has gugs, but using Nero
for years, I’ve never run into a bug.

    So, I recommend Nero.

At least give it a try.

    Forgot this:
You can install Nero only, without the utils…
    Just try it!

I tried Nero and others and recommend Sonic RecordNow. Simple drag n’ drop, never a problem and the $30 Deluxe version will burn dual layer.
